Sushil Verma is the Founder and CEO of i‑Ans Capital, a boutique
firm dedicated to providing unparalled advisory and enabling services in
accelerating investment and strategic growth in the energy transition
sector. With 30+ years of experience spanning the USA, Japan, India, and
Southeast Asia, Sushil brings a rare combination of deep financial
expertise, entrepreneurial spirit, and hands-on leadership in building
and scaling energy businesses.
A JOURNEY FUELED BY ENERGY AND VISION
Sushil’s journey began in the corporate finance world, where he developed a strong foundation through early roles at Unilever, ICICI and Price Waterhouse. His time at GE Energy Financial Services in New York marked a turning point — leading multi-billion-dollar power investments and managing complex restructuring and exits that shaped his approach to value creation and disciplined growth.
In 2011, Sushil took GE’s energy investment business to Asia, establishing its presence across Japan, India, and Southeast Asia. He spearheaded GE’s renewable investment platform in Japan, making it biggest in Japan by investment size and installed MW delivering 50%+ returns. He later raised and managed the largest renewables fund ($720 million), underscoring his deep understanding of the intersection between global capital and sustainable infrastructure.
Subsequent to his long GE career, in 2019 Sushil became an entrepreneur. As Senior Advisor, he helped CPP Investments (largest Canadian pension fund) to scan, analyse and invest in India’s renewable sector. In 2022, Sushil founded Japan Renewable Power (later know as Hexa Renewables Japan), a greenfield solar development platform that delivered 15 operational solar projects and secured corporate PPAs and project financing within 2 years of starting business. He successfully raised substantial equity capital from I-Squared Capital, a large and reputed global infrastructure fund. His entrepreneurial success reflected his ability to combine strategic vision with disciplined execution.
